Eric Carlson

After practicing law as a civil litigator for 17 years – including training as a mediator and serving as a temporary judge with the Los Angeles Superior Court – Eric became a licensed marriage and family therapist, and is now the Clinical Director of a mental health primary, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based intensive outpatient program working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, and other serious mental health issues in group, individual and family settings. Eric has been a lead family coach with the Caldwell Family Institute since its inception, working primarily with couples/parents and leading family sessions. Eric has wide-ranging experience working with children, adults and families – caring for physically and developmentally disabled children and adults in New York while in high school and college and volunteering extensively here in Los Angeles coaching boys soccer and basketball in South Central, working at Public Counsel’s Children’s Rights Project counseling children in guardianship and adoption proceedings, and serving on the original Board of Directors of a start-up, non-profit charter school for underprivileged youth.

I received a BA in English Literature from the University of Virginia in 1989, his JD from the UCLA School of Law in 1997, a Masters in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in 2012 and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles in 2013.
